Transfer of ownership on death

My dad passed away 3Yrs ago and left no will. He had a plot in Hyd on his name. He also had a HUF account, of which I am Karta now. Can I transfer the plot on his name to this HUF, so that we all members of HUF have right to it? What is the procedure for transferring the same? Any estimate around Registration fees or Stamp duty will be great help.

First you have to obtain death certificate,  then legal heir certificate and a settlement deed among the legal heirs, then you can mutate the property through corporation.  I think that settlement deed stamp duty is less when compared with normal registration.

Thank you for your reply. I already have death certificate of my dad. The legal heir certificate will be in favour of a person, I am assuming, and not in favour of HUF. Can I still transfer the property to the HUF (as asked in my initial question)?

Sir,

If plot is individual name then you can transfer in legal heirs members name.
