The advocate had not done my work and has not returned my money

I am an 83 year old pensioner. I paid 25000.00 to an advocate in Kolkata (who claims to help the poor) for my case. He did not do the job. When I asked him to return my money he threatened me over the phone. I am an helpless woman and I need the money urgently. I don't have the means of fighting with him. What should I do?

Quick Summary
An 83-year-old pensioner paid a significant sum to an advocate in Kolkata for a case, but the advocate allegedly did not perform the work and has refused to return the money. When asked for a refund, the advocate reportedly made threats. The pensioner is seeking urgent advice on how to proceed, feeling helpless and in need of the funds. Suggestions include filing a complaint with the relevant Bar Association, the Bar Council of India, and potentially the Chief Justice of the Kolkata High Court.

Hi,

You may file a petition againt the advocate, duly signed and verified, with the Bar Council of India along with prescribed fees.  You may file the complaint in the State you residence ie Kolkata in English, Hindi or any regional language declared as state language.
