Tenant rights without agreement

We rented a house ( Tamil Nadu ) since last April for 5000 Rs. There was no agreement in written but we agreed orally that there will be a 3 months notice for vacation. 30 days back the owner said that he is going to increase the rent to 8000 Rs and we started looking for other house to shift. In the mean time the owner received an advance of 10000 Rs from another person, now we are willing to continue in the same house and negotiated with the owner and he agreed for 7000 Rs. But the guy who paid the advance is threatening the owner saying that he needs 50000 Rs as compensation and the owner again started pressuring us to vacate immediately. What are the legal options available for us?

You can file a suit for injunction against the owner as " not evict without following the due procedure of law"

1. We don't have any agreement or rent receipt. Will it hold in the court if we file a case?.

2. Actually the owner initially agreed to continue with us and told the other guy that he will refund the advance but since that guy  is asking for a compensation of Rs 50000 the owner is now asking us to vacate, Is it legally right for that guy to ask for compensation?

you no need to worry about to search  rental house, you can continue in that house no problem.

do you have the limitation time for take decision.

if any body give any thretening , go and police complaint upon them.

Why do you want to contribute to litigation in the country? The cops and courts have their hands full with lots of genuine and serious matters.

Live and let live. If you were open to vacating at some point of time, just do that and lead a simple life.....helps all involved.
