Hi,
it is possible that you get arrested as this could be considered as shoplifting. Under section 279 of the Indian Penal code cludes the Punishment for theft and states that whoever commits theft shall be punished with imprisonment of either descripttion for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both.
It is advisable to negotiate with them and pay for the product which was left unscanned or return the product, or pay the penalty and avoid police action.
If they proceed with police action, you should plead your case and make them understand that it was a misunderstanding.
