Sons right on mother’s ancestral property

Do a son has right on property of his mother when she is alive?  Property of mother is ancestral that she got after death of her parents.

Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies whether a son has any legal claim to his mother's property while she is still alive. The consensus is that property inherited by a mother from her parents is considered her self-acquired property, not ancestral property in the traditional sense that would grant the son automatic rights. Therefore, the mother has full control over her property during her lifetime.

No, the son do not have any right in his mother's self-acquired property during her life time, which she has inherited from her parents.

Just because of inheritance from the parents, the property is not ancestral. It is the self-acquired property of the mother.

Thanks for reply. So ancestral counts only from fathers side ancestral property?

Yes.  The female property is always treated as her exclusive and separate property as that of self-acquired during her lifetime.   She can choose to deal as she wishes during her lifetime.
