As there was a practice in economically backward people to have only sons and killing daughters or selling away, as the ratio of women is drastically coming down with that of men, the Government has brought in several schemes to encourage that child who is the only daughter for her parents. Search in google and find out authentic definition by Government and various schemes that support single girl child.
