Can a school ask for Aadhar and PAN of parents ?

They are asking for Aadhar and PAN numbers of parents, what school as to do with these details.

1. Birth certificate already submitted for student parent relationship at the time of admission. 2. It's a reputed private school , so no angan wadi subsidy issue. 3. Student not in lower income group, so no subsidy connection. 4. No study loan availed. 5. No scholarship provided.
