The Supreme Court today started regular hearing of the appeals filed by those convicted and sentenced in 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blast case, including Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt. The TADA court, Mumbai, had sentenced some of the accused to death, while others were given varying sentences, including life imprisonment. Dutt was convicted under the Arms Act and sentenced to six years imprisonment by the trial court and is currently on bail. Over 200 people were killed and several hundreds injured when the commercial capital of the country was rocked by a series of bomb explosions on Black Friday of March 12, 1993. |
