The Supreme Court today refused to entertain a PIL seeking investigations in the Commonwealth Games scam by an apex court-appointed SIT. The petition filed by Delhi Study Group has also prayed to the apex court to monitor the investigation in the case since the probe being conducted by the CBI was not satisfactory. A bench comprising Justices R M Lodha and Gyan Sudha Misra was, however, not impressed and dismissed the petition. The petition has also raised doubts on the fairness of the investigations and has alleged that the CBI was acting as per the wishes of the ruling party at the Centre. There are allegations that the nation suffered a huge loss running into thousands of crores of rupees spent on the games. The former head of Organising Committee Suresh Kalmadi, Congress MP from Pune and his associates are facing trial for their alleged involvement in the scam. |
