Sale of law suit ?

Can a client sell its ongoing law suit to another for consideration, or on the promise of sharing of the monetary relief from the court, after sharing litigation expenses ? Or in other words, can a case be sold around like a commodity.

Friends I would also refer to TPA's actionable claims here.

Actionable claim, which is not a right to sue, is transferable. How about sale of an ongoing litigation ? To be more specific, a money suit or any civil litigation. (Let me exclude personal law cases like divorce)

I would appreciate your opinion which is based on specific provisions of law which enable or deter this possibility.
