Delhi Municipal Corporation Act,1957 and Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954 govern the meat shops which are present under the territory of Delhi, whereas the timings for the same are decided by Delhi Shops And Establishments Act and for the purpose of running a meat shop in Delhi, a valid trade license is a must which is regulated by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. There is a requirement of a valid license from the commissioner for sale and purchase of any animal. If the Commissioner is convinced that the animal expected to be consumed by humans is being slaughtered or in a place or a way not in accordance with the Act, he/she may examine such place to check as to whether any provision of this Act is being breached and may grab hold of any such animal. The Commissioner may dispose it by auction. One can apply for a trade license either through the internet or at a Citizen’s Service Bureaus (CSB). Necessary Documents for Obtaining Licence of a Meat Shop are----- 1. Site Plan 2. Indemnity Bond for Rs.100/- 3. Key Plan 4. Copy of sanction plan/ completion certificate/structure safety certificate from a registered architect. 5. Water connection and sewer connection 6. Copy of partnership deed if any 7. Affidavit for Rs.10/- A processing charge of Rs 500 is payable per application along with a charge of Rs 300 as the license fees and at the time of acceptance of the application form for the issue of a new license. In terms of consumer protection, A high standard of personal hygiene at all times is expected from the workers with good ventilation and use of clean fresh water.
