I had an opportunity of attending an investigation as assistance to the suspect in theft case.. During my presence there i found that IO had banned all the suspects from leaving chandigarh till he completes investigation. It is over a month that suspect's movement restrictions are imposed.by IO. I also found a lady and her husband were called from another town 30 KM away and was being questioned as late as 7 PM in the evening in presence of a lady constable.. The mobiles of the suspects were taken away and switched off. Can a lawyer represent the suspects during investigation and be present during investigation and help suspects to restore their human rights on movement when not required for investigation and ensure that investigation carries on in humane manner and as per the rules.
