Hello Lawyers,
My query is whether a valid rental agreement can be prepared now mentioning the agreement has commenced verbally from prior time (may be 1 or two years back) for the total tenure?
For example,
a) agreement can be prepared now from April 2020 to March 2022 ?
b) In this scenario, do we also need to register the lease agreement by paying registration and stamp duty charges?

yes. it can definitely be prepared with retrospective effect. registration is recommended. but mostly people simply notarise it and even the courts do not harp much on the fact that it is not registered. however, if you are the property owner, it is advisable to get it registered. this applies to normal agreements also
