Recovery from pension

I was working in bank and retired 10 years back. Now the bank has sent a notice to recover 57000 from my pension stating that a loan has gone bad which I had sanctioned as branch manager. Please advise what shall I do.

Just pay that amount before you will be charged also for recovery expenses.

To my knowledge, no recovery is permissible from pension. The only option for the Bank is a civil action.
