Purchase of property by wife

Kindly help in following querry:

we are happliy married couple, we have brought residential property on loan which is on my name.I am wholly repaying the loan from my salary and down payment partly done by my husband and partly by me. my husband and inlaws want me give up claim on the property purchased in future once the loan is repaid by me and transfer the property in name of my mother in law. I dont want to do this, but at the same time i want harmony in the family. I ahve brother in law too who is still studying in college. I want to know if i transfer property in the name of my mother in law then in future if some dispute arises in the family then can i reclaim property purchased by me though now it will be in the name of mother in law.

Dear Sirs,

that mean i should not transfer the property in the name of my mother in law.

Advocate Bhartesh goyal (advocate)     25 June 2013

If the property is transferred in the name of your mother in law either by registered  sale deed or gift deed then you have no right over the property and you can not  claim it back in future.

Keep the property in your name only.
