Maximum fine that can be imposed by commissioner of information is up to rs25000/-for supplying delayed information. Daily fine is rs 200/-.As per sec.20 of RTI Act 2005

Proceedings before an Appellate authority empowered under RTI are civil in nature. CPC provisions are applicable. Also, dealings by PIO and Appellate authrity wothin the Department are NOT governed by CrPC provisions as they exercise quasi-judicial authority.

1. To the exception of Penalty & Disciplinary proceedings /action, there is no other Punishment possible under RTI.
