Pune society demanding notarised copy of purchase agreement

My apartment society in Pune has asked me to submit a notarised copy of my registered sale agreement/sale deed for their records. 1. Is there any legal requirement for the society to insist on a notarised copy? 2. Is there any risk in providing a notarised copy from the perspective of misuse or fraud? 3. Is there a safer option?
