Problem related to hindu succession act

P, a coparcener, died leaving behind his mother M and widow W. Thereafter, W adopted X as his son. X sued for partition and claimed 1/2.

Options are :

a) The court will allow 1/4, As on P's death, M and W each will take 1/2.

b) The court will allow 1/2, As on P's death, M and W each will take 1/4.

c)The court will allow 1/3, As on P's death, M and W each will take 1/3.

d)The court will allow 1/2, As on P's death, M and W each will take 1/2.

Can anybody explain me what is the answer and how ??
