Probates of will and letters of administration

what is d diference between LOA n probates of will.i want to know one basic diference betwn it.may be LOA can be taken by anybody but probates must be by excecutor and benificiary.IS IT CORRECT

in my opinion d basic difference b/w both is that LOA can be in dist court i.e. in the court of Dist Judge of the concerned jurisdiction and later in the jurisdicton of concerned High Court?? correct me all of u if m wrong
