Two Boys of 11-yr-old sentenced for attempted rape of girl, 8
LONDON - A British court has sentenced two 11-year-old boys to official supervision for attempting to rape an 8-year-old girl.Justice John Saunders said Wednesday that the boys will be monitored by social workers for the next three years, rejecting a custodial sentence as counterproductive.The children were only 10 years old when the girl told her mother they had assaulted her in Hayes, a suburban area at the edge of west London.
The boys' lawyers argued that the boys had only been playing a game. A jury cleared the pair of rape, but found them guilty of attempted rape.The pair are thought to be among the youngest ever convicted of a s*x crime in England.
