Plan for 4th marriage costs Mumbai man dearly

Plan for 4th marriage costs Mumbai man dearly

Ayub Khan, 41, could have led a happy married life had he not desired more than one life partner. He made his situation worse by wishing for a fourth wife, having fooled three already.

All his wives, who could well have been each other’s enemies, came together to teach him a lesson after finding out that he was planning to marry for the fourth time. On Saturday night, they gave him a severe bashing.

Having got married for the first time 20 years back, Khan was said to have lied to lure his second wife. While proposing marriage to her, he claimed to be unhappy as he lost his first wife. It was soon revealed that his first wife was not dead.

Instead of being ashamed of his act, Khan made a habit of betrayal. He did not stay for long with his second wife either. However, his stay with the third and final wife was for the shortest span. He decided to part ways in just 40 days and started planning his fourth wedding.

Tired of his undying habit, his second wife lodged a complaint against him at the Kurla police station two weeks back. “We had arrested Khan on the complaint of his second wife over a week back. We had registered a case under sections 406 [criminal breach of trust], 420 [cheating] and 498 [cruelty by husband] of the Indian Penal Code. But he was out on bail,” said senior inspector Vijay Bagwe.

But the wives were not satisfied with the action taken. On Saturday night, they reached Kurla depot along with a group of women to settle scores with Khan. He was then beaten with slippers and was made to march on the heavily crowded streets with his shirt coming apart.

The police then had to intervene. Officials of the Kurla police station took both parties to the police station where they were let off with a warning.

In one instance 2nd marriage without divorcing first wife had costed a man his govt. job.

Such instances or moral policing by women by beating a man by chappals is only one out of thousand instances which happen in India.

Legally, this muslim man can have four wives and non-discloure by him to his newly wedded wife about his subsisting matrimony with other wife, is not fraud. However, deliberate occasion of lie lead to misrepresentation which could at maximum be a ground for divorce. Also as muslim marriage is a contract, so wife has no right to stop the man from marrying again. Though she can take divorce on this ground alone.

Nevertheless this man deserved to be thrown behind the bars for cheating and lust. Criminal breachof trust is against property and as per muslim marriage woman becomes the property of the man. So this section is clearly attracted. Even cheating is made ou my deliberate misrepresentation. Cruelity has varied degrees. The one employed by this man could maximum give favor in the form of divorce to the three wives and nothing else.
