Pio providing false information

I had received a document from a state govt in response to my RTI Application.  Now on the basis of said document, I have sought information under RTI Act. The PIO denied of having such document mehtioned in my RTI Application which is provided by the same state govt. Iam prefering an appeal under Section 19 of the RTI Act.

Besides filing appeal under Section 19 of RTI Act, can I take legal action under the various provisions of BNS like Section 61, Sections 198 and Section 199 of BNS act. Request valuable opinion from experts in the field.

Aim and object of Right to Information Act, 2005 do not provide for any action to be initiated against PIO /FAA and/or any authority.

However, you may initiate criminal action against wrong-doer on the basis of information / document(s) provided in response to your application /appeal under the provisions of Right to Information Act, 2005 when there is some cognizable offence has been committed.

It would be appropriate to consult and /or engage a local prudent lawyer for proper analyses of facts/documents, professional advise  and necessary proceeding.

How the said provisions apply to the given facts? In my considered view, the steps you are contemplating are too hasty.

You may better restrict to filing an appeal against the incorrect information provided to you as per the act
