Pan for a proprietorship firm

I have a proprietorship firm and I had applied for a PAN. Incidentally I have got the PAN Card in the name of my firm. However, I came to know that for a proprietorship firm PAN is not required. I don't know what to do. Please give me a suitable suggestion.

It's really surprising how do u get pan card in the name of your firm ! By the by, you rectify your pan card and submit the proper documents to change the card in your name. Documents are votar card, proof of birth certificate etc.
