Nine advocates taken into preventive custody in bangalore

BANGALORE: Nine advocates were taken into preventive custody on Wednesday when they tried to stage a dharna in the city civil court premises, where prohibitory orders are still in force after the March 2 violence when mediapersons and police personnel were attacked by lawyers.

"We have taken nine lawyers into preventive custody as they were trying to stage a protest in the city civil court complex where prohibitory orders are in force till March 18", deputy commissioner of police (Central Division) G Ramesh said.

65 people, including 52 police personnel, were injured when lawyers went on a rampage on March 2, protesting presence of mediapersons to cover the appearance of former Minister and mining baron Janardhan Reddy in a mining case in the city civil court complex.

Following the incident, prohibitory orders were imposed in and around the civil court complex premises.
