Name trasnfer of the bike

I sold a bike to person A. At the time of selling i asked for docs but that person already initiated name transfer on rto portal and gave me form 29 and 30. So as he already started process i got the delivery note from him. After 3 years i checked the bike still on my name but number linked to it is different. That guys renewed insurance which expired last year. What to do in such case as that person number is not reachable and bike still on my name.

Legally  speaking, until the transfer is recorded in the RTO database, the registered owner remains responsible for the vehicle. So since the bike is still in your name, you should act quickly to protect yourself.

Under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Section 50), the seller must notify the RTO about the sale. Therefore you should immediately inform the RTO that the bike was sold.

You should submit to your RTO the following :

Copy of Form 29, Copy of Form 30, Delivery note / sale agreement, copy of your ID proof, a written letter stating  the date of sale, buyer name and address, that the buyer failed to complete transfer, request the  RTO to record the sale in their records and remove liability from you. This is also termed as  “Notice of Transfer / Report of Sale.”

Contact concerned RTO with relevant records i.e., form 29, 30, affidavit and delivery note etc. and get change of ownership endorsed / updated in their record.

Thank you all for the advise.

I have informed the RTO as well as local police station and also register RC lost complaint as well as RC and bike is with buyer.

From RTO I got info that bike is sold to 3rd perosn along with NOC which i was not aware of.

Is there anything i need to do.

If the sale / subsequent sale transaction is registered with RTO and confirmed you need not take any action, now the purchaser is the owner.
