Mother surname

Can a child have his mother's surname. If yes what's the proceduce

Hello Deepika,

If you are asking about governmential/official docs, then YES. you have write to choose a surname either of your father or mother. but it should be common on all the documents. i.e. Adhaar card,Passport, Driving license etc. it might be a problem if you choose to use both of your parent’s surname on different identification cards as it would be a problem to recognising you at different platforms and due to your identity mismatch! so go for only one and common surname either of your dad or mom.
