Jamai Of Law (propra)     10 April 2012

Marriage laws amendment bill-should not be retrospective

This new Bill if made retrospective, it may have unpredictable consequences and hence it is NOT a good law and also it would be an injustice to many

And the law may breach constitutional tenets such as 'equality before law'

When Hindu succession Act got amended, it did incorporate the provision not to make it retrospective. Same is required here.

I am apalled at this helplessness.

One way to fight will be for all related organizations to come under one umbrella-mobilize the masses. Finances will be the key and ofcourse doing the right thing. Truth is a powerful weapon and transcends all. Most of these Men's organization are voluntary and are proud that they are voluntary. They have plateaued out. None of their suggestions except arrest delay has been successful. What is needed is a dedicated and fanatical cadre who will take up the cause. This should be backed by money. Only then can we overturn this. Finding escape routes like rats won't work.
