Marine insurance

In case of CFR shipment, shipper updates bill of lading and invoice to importer for taking insurance coverage. If exporter takes 15 days time, cargo remains uncovered. If vessel gets sunk, is it lawful to include cargo under coverage, when materiality is in public domain. Intermediary guides that this being open policy, it is possible. But common sense ? Pl guide me as cargo is Rs.25 crores. Thanks

You have to check the doubt with the insurance provider. They will give the clarity on it
