KANPUR: Additional district and sessions judge Vijay Laxmi, on Tuesday, convicted one Suresh Sharma for committing murder of his parents and sentenced him for life imprisonment. He was also ordered to play a fine of Rs 20,000. Suresh, a resident of Gopal Nagar in Bidhnoo was held guilty of killing his parents. The defence counsel pleaded that it was Suresh's first crime and keeping in view that he had a six years old daughter and a wife in his family, the court should take a lenient view. Additional district government counsel Sunita Srivastava pleaded that accused had committed double murder and that too of his parents. Therefore, he should be given stringent punishment. All the witnesses turned hostile except one and the court considered his evidence seriously. Suresh had killed his parents around 11.30pm on May 17, 2007 when they were sleeping. The accused attacked his mother and father with an iron, killing them on the spot. Reason behind the murder was that Suresh suspected that his father had illicit relationship with his wife and his mother was cooperating in the illegal act.
