Maintenance of child from first marriage

my husband has a son from his first marriage who is about to be 18 in a few months. My husband and his first wife had a divorce by mutual consent and my husband had paid one time alimony and maintenance and all the money for child's upbringing at the time of divorce. The mother had full and exclusive custody of the child and my husband did not have visiting rights till the child turned a major. My husband expired a few months ago. my question is whether his son from his first marriage a legal heir although all dues had been paid by my husband and it was mentioned in the judgement that that he owed nothing to them anymore. Is the child entitled to a part of his property and insurance?
