Limit on number of prayers in a application of criminal case

Dear All,

Is there any limit on the Number of Prayers in a pplication filed in a criminal case.

I filed an application in Maintenance Case(U/s 125 of CrPC) seeking dismissal of the Maintenance Case filed by the wife on relevant grounds, in that application I prayed below:

  1. Dismiss the petition
  2. Grant me compensation
  3. Take cognizance of the offence U/s 34 of CrPC read with 195 of CrPC (Perjuty committed by wife)
  4. Speedy trail.

Court says that four prayers in single application is not accepted and the application is not maintainable in law, whereas at the time filing this application earlier justice in family court did not raise any questions and asked the wife side to file counter.....

Kindly let me know whether the law puts limits on the number of prayers in any of the application made before court in a criminal case.

In the above post, the prayer-1 is: Dismiss the petition filed by the wife seeking maintenance.
