I am going to buy a plot in chennai, so requested a legal heir certificate from the seller to know about his heirs; he said that he will get it and give to me. During our discussion he hinted that he will get from VAO. Here my question 1) Which authority is legally eligible to provide legal heir certificate?

Thank you all for the Quick reply.
But the selling party showed me the legal heir certificate which he got from VAO, and he added that, it is legally valid.
Can I accept the legal heir certificate which was given by VAO.

The matter of inheritence will come in the way.To overcome this,A Legal Heir certificate issued by the judiciary will have more value to protect the property rights falling under the category of!!!self earned!!! this aspect is reasonably different if the immovable property is derived from !!!Ancestral Category!!!. Hence the purchase formalities can be postponed till the said options are examined and completed.....
