Lawyer cancel vakalatnama

A lawyer has been regularly dealing with a client on several occasions. In a new family dispute the client then hires his services, pays him a cheque to represent her and her brothers against a sister. Soon, the brothers who had earlier signed the vakalatnam together with the client to hire this lawyer, later over several months,  turn against the client and now threaten legal action against her.

The client wants to reatain the same lawyer aginst her brothers. Can the lawyer cancel the vakalt nama with the brothers and continue to represent her or is it legally binding on him to stay away?

I think the lawyer is within his rights to refuse any services to the brothers since they have turned enemies.

Please advise.
