No, LSA have not so far extended FREE services in DRT.

First of all one should understand the underlying reason for free legal aid to Court litigants. When a common man gets litigated in a court case, he may not have enough resources to have his own Lawyer to come out of the case successfully. It is to help the poor.

 

In contrast to the above situation and the underlying position, DRT cases are those cases between Banks on one hand and on the other hand loan defaulters of above Rs.10.00 lakhs or so. Therefore, people who had taken loans for lakhs of rupees against whom Banks file case to recover cannot be provided legal aid as they are all well off and there may not be anybody among the defendants in the DRT cases who cannot afford legal expenses and engaging a Lawyer for representing them.
