jurisdiction in the cheque case 138 N.I

Hello sir what is the rules and regulations of the cheque bounce case like 138 NI act any latest judgment please

Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the rules and regulations surrounding cheque bounce cases under Section 138 of the NI Act, particularly concerning jurisdiction. Recent amendments specify that complaints for bounced cheques must be filed in the court within the jurisdiction of the payee's bank branch. This aims to streamline the process and provide clarity on where such cases can be heard.

What are the facts? What is the context?

The Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Act, 2015 specifies circumstances under which complaints for cheque bouncing can be filed.

However, the Act does not specify the territorial jurisdiction of the courts where such a complaint is to be filed.

The Bill amends the Act to state that cases of bouncing of cheques can be filed only in a court in whose jurisdiction the bank branch of the payee (person who receives the cheque) lies
