Is there a formal discovery process in India? What are the practices followed in India for legal document review?

The Discovery process in India remains a mystery to me. With the advent of ESI and huge growth in the recent years, it will not be long before data storage and management will begin to be a pain in the neck. It would become increasingly difficult to keep storing almost everything for fear of a lawsuit. Courts across the world have recognized this challenge and have accepted and applied the theory of reasonableness for such processes. There are several procedures that provide guidelines to the companies in managing ESI. Also, the court apply the doctrine of  reasonableness during questions pertaining to production and retention of documents. In case of our legal system, some of the questions that crop up are

Are there any legislations in India governing document retention policies for corporations and for legal document review.

Does the court recognize a formal document review process conducted by a third party on behalf of the advocate or law firm? If so, what is the extent of liability for the third party and the law firm?

There is very little information regarding the approach to document retention or legal document review process in India. Does anyone have information on this?
