Is the defence employee personal details (salary & residential address) is not disclosed under rti

The person is asking the defence scientist's personal information like salary slips and the residential addresss for the personal use (not for public interest) under RTI application.

Can this information be denied under sections 8 & 9 of the RTI act that says that information regarding personal residential addresses can be protected under not for larger use of public use or protected under security organisation act?

The information asked cannot be given under Sec.8-(i)(j)of the RTI Act 2005 and in an SLP, the SCI confirmed this.

The information sought falls within the exemptions under the Right to Information Act.

Under Section 8(1)(j) the information which relates to personal details and has no relationship to any public activity or public interest or would cause unwarranted invasion of privacy, such information must be denied, unless the applicant proves a larger public interest.

The information sought is personal and cannot be provided by PIO which is protected under section 8(1)(j) of the RTI Act, 2005.The Act is applicable to all citizens of India and do not discrIminate defence personnel with counterpart civillians scientist.
