Is tenant a consumer?

Hello experts,

I have rented a house for the past one year and am paying rent on monthly basis regularly.  Am I considered a Consumer under the Consumer Protection Act?

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Sendil

Good Question.  In my opinion you are not consumer because you are a tenent, you have not availed any services or purchased any thing.  Hope I am right.

No,you are not consumer .,consumer means "any person who buy or purchase goods for consideration ,or hire services for cosideration"here neither you [tenant] have purchased any goods nor hired any services for consideration so not consumer.
