is mother's name not valid?

Hi everyone,

i recently applied for my PAN n in the application form, i was asked to mention my father's name. but i mentioned by mother's name instead n my application was rejected.

i wrote to the Income TAx Office saying that as per supreme courts judgement in 1999, father's name cannot be insisted. i attached a copy of that judgement too. but still they replied saying, as per PAN scheme n policy, mother's name cannot be accepted.

can ITO say it cannot chnage its policy even after supreme court has given that judgement?

wat shud i do now?how shud i proceed?

plz help

regards,

Send a legal notice. Supreme Court's judgment is law and the PAN authority cannot over rule it.
