Is it necessary to give correct residential address in aadhaar for a wife who resides away from her husband.

What if a wife applied and gets updated her aadhaar card ( photo and mobile no.) and remains matrimonial address unchanged where she has not been living for last five years due to litigation and divorce appeal pending in high court and notices also serves by court to her parent's house in different city wherein she lives?

Does this act comes in fraud in eyes of law and attracts any criminal case against her?

What the husband an appellant in divorce case should do in this situation who lives in his mentioned parent's house?

Quick Summary
This discussion explores the legal ramifications when a wife, living separately due to ongoing divorce proceedings, keeps her matrimonial address unchanged on her Aadhaar card. It questions whether this constitutes fraud and what actions the husband, as the appellant, should take. The advice given suggests both spouses should provide their current residential address on their Aadhaar cards.

Dear Querist,

As people shift from place to place, they want to change their address details on their Aadhaar card. Some also tweak the spelling of their name and want to record it on the Aadhaar card.

As per the guidelines from UIDAI, the address and gender can be changed only once. To make changes to the Aadhaar Card, creditable documents and additional proof will be required to be attached or submitted to authorize the required modifications.

In this situation, both husband and wife should give the address where they are living.

Regards,

Palak
