Is gst needed for a vendor in a gated community

In a hyderabad gated community say of property consists of 400 to 600 flats ,

setting up a retail vegetable or milk shop and selling/ distrubuting to the required items to the buyers inside the community.

is it mandatary  to have a gst or any certificate from the government. The monthly sales turnover could be anywhere between 5L to 8L.

In case if it is not registered under any govt body or not having a gst , will this be a legal/ complaince problem with the govt?

Quick Summary
If you're a vendor operating a retail shop solely within a Hyderabad gated community, selling goods like vegetables or milk, GST registration is generally not mandatory. This applies as long as your sales remain within the state and do not exceed the Rs. 20 lakh threshold for turnover. Operating without GST registration is compliant as long as these conditions are met and you are not involved in inter-state or online sales.

If you are a vendor in a gated community and selling retail goods (groceries, food items, vegetables, etc.) within the gated community, and operating only within one state, and not engaged in inter-state sales or online e-commerce supply (e.g. via Amazon, Zomato, Swiggy),then GST registration is not required until you cross the threshold limit.

The threshold limit is Rs. 20 lakhs.

The GST does not apply to retail goods in a gated community, regardless of the value and to under-construction property in a gated community with a value below Rs. 10 lakhs.

Gst is not mandatory for your work .
