Section 353, IPC, 1860, stands for Assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty. In this, whoever assaults or uses criminal force against any person who's a public servant in the execution of his duty or with an intent to prevent/deter that person from discharging/performinghis duty as such or in consequence of anything done/attempted to be done by such person to the lawful discharge of his duty as such public servant, shall be punished with imprisonment of either descripttion for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both. It's a cognizable and non bailable offence.

In simple words, to stop any public servant from his/her duty by the way of assault or any crminal force , here punishment  to this offence is upto 2 years imprisonment and it is a serious offence(cognizable)-Non-bailable in nature.
