Income tax Assmt year 2020-21

Board of a public sector company noted the appointment of Auditors by the C&AG after 10 months of apppointment. Covid restrictions further delayed the audit and assessee failed to file ROI even on the extended last date of filing. Appellate authorities rejected the ROI and blaming the board for delay. please advice how to come out of this.
