Show Bye-laws of the society to a local prudent lawyer for analyses and professional advise.

A proxy cannot represent the society in the capacity of management ommittee member, the bylaws do not allow this facitliy.
Holwever in what capacity are you termed as proxy and also see what your bylaws say about this.

It all depends on the State in which, the Society is and the law under which the Society is registered. A blank statement as above has no answer.
