Hearsay evidence

Is Hearsay evidence by a witness is admissible in Family Court as the Indian Evidence Act is not strictly followed by Family Courts.This witness has heard about and incident from the  persons assembled at the spot. The witness was too present at the spot but didnt see the incident himself. This is relating to a divorce case on cruelty.
