Harassment

Hello All,

I should say this forum is amazing and the experts are helping a lot of people. My problem is, i got transferred from one dept to other on the deceit of abroad travel. But after 8 months there was not even a hint of it. So i got fed up and revolted against the line manager for doing so and ruining my time and skillset. But after a week, they took me to a conference room and threatened me that they will screw my career inside the company, they will make sure that i will not any kind of oppurtunity and i felt very bad and raged since i was cheated. Though there is a companys internal harassment policy, i didn't think about it. Just want to know is this lawful under labour laws. I'll not be able to submit any proof since i didn't record any voice. Just need a opinion since it's outright threatening and i was hurt emotionally  Please your thoughts on this.

You may come across many of such situations and many of such line managers in times to come too. You may just shrug it off as a bad episode and move ahead with life and career.

Employee should never get lured by verbal promises which are not on record and have no sanctity and should never act in haste.

Even if there is a harassment policy the burden of proof may fall on you. You may have to provide witness/evidence. Do you have any friendly employee willing to be your witness?

Another point is some companies have strong HR and good HR practices and they may act on your complaint and mark notes in file of your manager and keep a survillience. Your manager may become a markeed man. However you would know your company better and you may take a calculated decision.

If the managers have threatened you once they may do so again. Be prepared. Next time you may utter the dates and let them spit and vomit on record.

Build rapport with higher management and manage to be with the dept of your choice.

Valuable advice of learned experts/members is sought.
