Gst registration - aadhaar card of witnesses

I have applied for GST registration for a propreitorship firm. Since a business address is required, I purchased annual lease of a virtual office through a co-working space company.

Co-working space company has shared the 1. Office use agreement between me and them. 2. Lease agreement between them and building owner 3. NOC from building owner to co-working space company 4. Electricity bill

Lease agreement between building owner and co-working space company has 2 witnesses mentioned along with their photo, addresses and aadhaar card number. GST inspector has asked to get their aadhaar card photo. Is it a valid and legal ask from GST department?

Also, GST inspector asked me to get witness on my office use agreement with co-working space company. Is that too a valid and legal ask?

I called co-working space company coordinator and they mentioned that they share the similar lease agreement with companies/startups and those have successfully got GST registration without any issue.

Can you please guide what kind of legal help can be available to ensure my GST registration application does not get rejected? I went through some online articles which mentioned that even witnesses are not mandatory. But I need some legal help to prepare a response to clarification notice that I received from GSR department. Please let me know in case more details are required to guide me better. Thank You!

Since you have been served with a notice from GST department you may either comply with the requirements as mentioned in the notice or if you are not willing then you can approach an advocate and issue a reply notice as per law and challenge their unlawful demand,  if any.

It is advisable to contact, consult and engage a local prudent lawyer for such commercial queries.

To ensure a smooth GST registration  through the application process, helping you avoid common mistakes that might lead to rejection.

Regarding witnesses, you're correct that they're not mandatory for GST registration.

However, you may need to provide additional documents or information to support your application.

If you've received a clarification notice from the GST department, it's essential to respond promptly and accurately.

Some key areas where legal help can be beneficial include: -

 *Reviewing and preparing application documents*:

Ensuring all necessary documents are in order and accurately filled out. -

*Responding to clarification notices*:

Providing timely and accurate responses to notices from the GST department. - *Resolving GST-related issues*:

Assisting with any GST-related problems that may arise during or after the registration process.

To better guide you, it would be helpful to know more about your specific situation, such as: - The nature of your business - Your annual turnover - The type of GST registration you're applying for (e.g., regular, composition, or voluntary registration)
