CAN ANYONE LET ME KNOW PLEASE THAT WHAT IS THE STAMP DUTY AND REGISTRATION CHARGES FOR A GIFT DEED OF A FLAT IN STATE OF WEST BENGAL , CITY KOLKATA. THE FLAT IS 617 SQ FT SUPER BUILT AREA. PRESENT MARKET VALUE IN THAT AREA NOWADAYS IS APPROX Rs. 2700 /- PER SQ FT.

Dear Submoy,

Different stamp duty may be prescribed in different states. Therefore, it is advisable that you shoud obtain the relevant title papers such as Property Card Extract, and enquire abou the valuation and stamp duty payable thereon with the Sub-Registrar Office in the concerned area. But most probably it would be around 2 to 3 % of the market value.
