Fraudulent bank account operating

A relative fraudulently opened bank accounts in my name without my permission. I had previously provided documents to him for opening another account at same bank years ago. I closed the bank account immediately after I found out what had happened.

Bank has not provided me copies of opening documents despite notice from my side.

1. How do I hold them and my relative accountable? What case can I file?

2. How may years are banks supposed to keep copies of these records?

Every bank operating in India should follw KYC (Know Your Customer) norms. If it is nationalised bank it is bound to furnish all the information. If bank refuses you may invoke Right to Information Act 2005 for obtaining the entire information. If it is private bank then you may request RBI under RTI Act.  Banks generally destroy all old records beyond 5/8 years once after retaining important records. You also have contributed to negligence in dealing with bank by entrusting such serious job like opening of account in bank. Any way first meet the Customer CService Cell in the bank's head /zonal/regional office for doing needful in the matter
