I have joined a company on 19th June 2023, there was a clause in joining letter of joining bonus to be returned if left the company before 2 years of rs 1 lakh , I left the company on 5 Feb 2024, now they are asking me to pay back 1 lakh and deducting it from my FNF settlement and rs 22000 is the overdue to pay by me .
What should I do ?

If the employment offer letter condition is clear on the return of the joning bonus then it becomes an obligation on the part of the employee to return the same on resigning the job and if the condition falls within the stipulated period.
